More Memories - WoW WEDNESDAY

Voila! I won my first WoW WEDNESDAY contest...so let's try for #2!

Today was not the world's greatest day. Lots of stress, tears, and emotions. I finally found my way to Cat's Creations Scrapbooks in Mineral Wells to pick up my goodies for winning the contest. I must say, I was also looking for a way to ease the emotional tension of today too. The other day another layout was created by Morgan (I swear I'm not stalking her work) and I was immediately drawn to the patterns and colors of the paper and embellishments she used. You can see her creation here.

The paper in question is Fancy Pants Wonderful Day Collection.

So here is what I started out with this evening:
Four sheets of paper, two sticker sets, pictures, and a fun little name sticker embellishment.
I wanted to buy a few more pieces, but I was pleased to get all I could!
And below is what scraps I had left when I was done!
Here are the finished pages, nothing like my inspiration, but very much my own pieces of fun! Any idea who that little girl is? My mom got some amazing smile shots of me.

Here are a few closeups of the little pieces of fun I added onto my pages.

I added the little band of flags just for the fun of it. Love to work with my twine and hemp strings!
This quote really reminded me of all the times I had with my mom. Miss her more and more every day.

And closeups of the two pages individually.Who would have thought the first day of school would have warranted such a celebration? I love seeing my brother in this picture.

One of these days I promise my picture taking will get better! I guess these aren't so bad though, at least you can tell what's on my pages!

I learn how to grieve better every day with each picture I pull out and decide to stick onto paper. This was a great relief of stress, along with the kind words a wonderful woman shared with me today. So there you have it.

Now what is this WoW Wednesday you keep hearing me mention? Well over at Cat's blog, myself and other talented scrappers and croppers link up some of our work for a chance to win some goodies from Cat's Creations Scrapbooks in Mineral Wells. Well you say you don't have anything to link up? That's fine too, just head on over to this post at Cat's and scroll to the bottom. There you will find my fellow croppers links. From there, comment on their posts and on the WoW Wednesday post too and you will be entered for a chance to win some amazing goodies!

And now...time to dabble in my goodie bag!

My first 12 hour scrap...

Hello again!

Here are a few of my favorite pages from my wedding album. I accomplished this piece in my first 12 hour scrapping sitting at Cat's Creations Scrapbooks in Mineral Wells!
I bought tons of fun embellishments at the store that day, and lots of backing papers for my photos. I had so much fun!

Sorry for the shine in some of the photos, I already have the pages in covers, and I dare not take them out! Enjoy!

Coverpage! Used some techniques I learned at Nanci's tag class I attended at Cat's Store as well! That was my first official Cat Outing! Here you  an see lots of oval shapes I cut out to frame the piece, along with our initials and the date of the event. This book truly was a love/hate event. Some pages rocked, and others, I just did not like so much!

One of my favorite pages. I ended up loving how many pictures I crammed on the page, and in the order and way I put them on there!

Opposite of the above page, yet again, another favorite of mine!

And even a spare tag that I made at Nanci's tag class!

I would have uploaded more, but I couldn't get the photos to do what I wanted them to do...OH WELL! At least you got a glimpse!

In my opinion, they are nowhere near the awesomeness of the pages I have been doing lately, but alas, this was only my second scrapbook :) , the INDY book was my third, and the pages I'm doing haven't found a book yet

A peek at the past!

Well, I'm back! While I ponder my next scrapping adventure, I thought  I would share with you all some of my past creations!

Here are a few glimpses from my Indianapolis 500 book! I used tons of awesome paper I found at Cat's in Mineral Wells, along with some amazing embellishments and stickers I found there too!

Here is the front page! I used some die cuts and some awesome road trip sign paper I found at Cat's Creations! The awesome state sticker embellishments I found had some cute "road map" stickers with them, and they were the perfect accent around the picture of our feet on the concrete symbol at Indy!
Among those embellishments were state license plates too...soo stinkin' cute! You can see all the states we drove through on the way.
My favorite finding of all were these family based papers. I found one for each of my special family members that I saw, but I decided to use "brother" paper for my cousins, since they have been like brothers to me my whole life.
And this wonderful butterfly "In Loving Memory" paper for the pictures of my mother's grave, and my cousin's grave in Ohio. A really touching part of my book. First time I've seen her grave since we buried her 4 years ago.
These final pages, Air Force, were the perfect touch for the visit with my Purple Heart Veteran grandfather, one of America's true heroes!

Hope you enjoyed this little peek! I certainly put a lot of heart into this book!

With Love,

Poolside Memories - SWIM: WoW WEDNESDAY!

Well look at this! Everyone links up blogs, so I suppose I'll try a swing at it myself. You'll have to excuse me while I adapt, I may only post this once, or I may post every time I make something, or I might just continue along using my pinterest, so lets see how this goes!

As time goes on, I'm trying to find some ways to find peace and deal with the grief of my mother's passing. Yesterday was the day she went to heaven, only four years ago. Not a long time it seems, but being with her through all the doctors appointments and chemotherapy, it seems like it's been decades.

Dad sent me a bunch of old pictures, and most of them have pulled at my heart. Well I found another few, that helped me celebrate those memories and fun times, all while still remembering my mother...so here it goes!

While surfing through Cat's facebook page, I came across a wonderful layout done by one of their staff, Morgan. I instantly fell in love with the colors and the theme and knew I had the PERFECT photos for it.
The pages are Webster's new Citrus Squeeze, and boy are they fun! You can see the layout I loosely based mine on here: Citrus Squeeze @ Cat's Creations Scrabook Facebook

So I bought some pages, found some of my rhinestones and other findings, and put myself to work. Lots of tape runner, Tim Holtz distress inks, alphabet & puffy stickers, and a few paper cuts later mine was finished!
Here are a few closeups of the pages and some of the details, so that maybe you can create your own summer memories using Cat's wonderful products!

Together they say SWIM...cute right?!
And finally here are some of the fun details and closeups of the hard work!

All my wonderful paper clip accessories and stickers had roughly the same colors and blended beautifully with the finished product. And that cute little girl you see? That's me and my brother in our new pool built in 96' or 97'.
I grieved my mother for a bit, knowing that she took those photos and that she loved to be out there with us as much as we loved to be out there with her. It felt good to cry, and laugh and remember those times.

So here it is! The finished product, and one of the entries in Cat's Creations WoW WEDNESDAY drawing! Anyone who comments on her blog, or on other entries is in the running! As long as you comment on the blogs and creations you are in the running! Or you can share your work too to be part of the fun! Some lucky participant will be selected in the next drawing to receive some outstanding goodies from Cats' store in Mineral Wells! So leave a comment, don't be shy, and go here to find out more information and other entries!

Maybe I'll do this again sometime...

in the meantime, here is a link to my pinterest where I post pictures of my cards that I make for my business on the side :)
